| 1. Should North Carolina parents who choose to educate their children in a non-public school be eligible to receive a state-funded scholarship grant to assist with the cost of tuition and fees? | Y* | Exception - home schools due to concerns over abuse by those that would take the funds and not provide an adequate education. Must include guardrails. If they arent receive public funds, they must meet some level of standards. |
| 2. Should the N.C. General Assembly authorize non-tribal commercial gambling casinos in North Carolina? | U* | What are the guard rails? |
| 3. Should abortion be prohibited in North Carolina once a fetal heartbeat is detected? | Y* | Personally, for me, life starts at conception. In my perfect world there would be no unwanted pregnancies therefore no need for such action. Thats not the would we live in. I will always stand to protect those who cannot protect themselves, that includes those in the womb. |
| 4. Should North Carolina voters be required to show a photo ID in order to vote in North Carolina? | Y | |
| 5. Should the N.C. General Assembly legalize the use of marijuana for medical purposes? | N | |
| 6. Should state nondiscrimination laws include "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" as protected classifications? | N* | Protecting specific groups could lead to unintended consequences which may be problematic. |
| 7. Should biological male students who identify as female be allowed to participate on female sports teams? | N | |
| 8. Should organizations that provide abortions be allowed to receive state funds? | N | |
| 9. Should North Carolina law allow a medical professional to assist another person in ending their life? | N | |
| 10. Should a health care practitioner, who is present at the time a child is born alive after a failed abortion attempt, be required by state law to exercise the same degree of skill, care, and diligence to preserve the life and health of that child as would be expected for any other child born alive at the same gestational age? | Y | |
| 11. Should North Carolina public schools be required to allow students to voluntarily participate in “released time” religious instruction during school hours—provided that it takes place off-campus, with parental consent, and at no cost to the public school unit? | U* | Conceptually sounds good but the widespread abuse could be problematic. It would be disruptive to the process of education. It would likely be better to do there activities after school hours like school sports programs. |
| 12. Should N.C. law (G.S. §90-21.5) continue to allow minors to consent to the treatment of venereal disease or other reportable communicable diseases, pregnancy (not including abortion), abuse of controlled substances or alcohol, and emotional disturbance, without parental consent? | N* | The challenge here is a no response assumes a perfect family where good parents are present in a childs life. I wish that represented all families in our state and world. As a parent, I would want to know. |
| 13. Should churches and other qualified religious organizations continue to receive tax-exempt status? | U* | Qualified Religious Organization . Who gets to decide? Exempt status should not go to such organizations that are anti American or anti Christian. |
| 14. Should a person’s religious beliefs influence the decisions they make while serving in public office? | Y* | How can it not! |
| 15. Should the number of terms a state legislator may serve in the North Carolina General Assembly be limited? | U* | The challenge with term limits could result in a lack of institutional knowledge of the legislative body. That could result in a government essentially run by state staff rather than elected representatives. As a member of the house of representatives, I saw a 25% turn over when I was elected without any specific term limits. I could be a supporter with guard rails to guard against significant loss. |
