Question Response Comments/Notes
1. Should North Carolina parents who choose to educate their children in a non-public school be eligible to receive a state-funded scholarship grant to assist with the cost of tuition and fees? Y* The direction of public policy in our states and nation should be of one of promoting an environment for parents where Godly principles, practice, and educational choices by parents can thrive. We all benefit as a culture by supporting parents as they raise and educate their children in a healthy environment spiritually, emotionally, and physically. American education for the last four centuries, even before the Founding, religion, morality, and knowledge formed the core elements of American education. We need to return to this and shape and support public policy as leaders to promote a return to these core elements of education and support for parents to choose where their children receive an education in either the private or government schools setting.
2. Should the N.C. General Assembly authorize non-tribal commercial gambling casinos in North Carolina? N
3. Should abortion be prohibited in North Carolina once a fetal heartbeat is detected? Y* The abortion issue is not one of a political nature but a spiritual one. Murder has always been a spiritual issue. The 6th commandment found in Exodus 20:13 says, "Thou shall not murder". Further, Proverbs 6:16-17 Lists shedding innocent blood as one of the seven things the Lord hates. I arrive at my decisions as to how I will vote on issues as follows: First and foremost, most importantly, what does God's holy and precious word, the Bible say about the issue. Secondly, what does the Constitution say which was inspired by the first. After we have established these bedrock foundations, then we can chat about the myriad of personal opinions citizens may have. But first, what does the Bible say, and secondly what does the Constitution say as the anchor tethered by these mooring lines to hold us fast to responsible public policy making that affects our culture and our citizens and keeps us strong as an American nation under a constitutional republic.
4. Should North Carolina voters be required to show a photo ID in order to vote in North Carolina? Y* This is important to show photo ID at the voting location to confirm the individual who is showing up to vote is the same individual that is listed on the voter rolls.
5. Should the N.C. General Assembly legalize the use of marijuana for medical purposes? N
6. Should state nondiscrimination laws include "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" as protected classifications? N* The protected classes have already been established. There are only two genders: Male and Female as God created us.
7. Should biological male students who identify as female be allowed to participate on female sports teams? N* There are only two genders: Male and Female as God created us. To lead a child to believe otherwise is abuse and should be a criminalized. Leaders should have Zero tolerance for members of the opposite sex participating in women's sports. Further any male entering showers, locker rooms, bathrooms, dormitories, women’s shelters, prisons, etc. should be prohibited. No exceptions. Public policy and law should prohibit this from occurring and punish those who enter sex-separated spaces of the opposite sex including, men in women's sports.
8. Should organizations that provide abortions be allowed to receive state funds? N* No the abortion mill industry that profits from murduring the innocent unborn in the womb should not receive taxpayer money. God will hold us accountable for how we as a state and nation treat the life of the innocent unborn. Abortion is not a political issue but one of a spiritutal issue. Murder has always been a spiritual issue not a political issue. The 6th commandment found in Exodus 20:13 says, "Thou shall not murder".
9. Should North Carolina law allow a medical professional to assist another person in ending their life? N* Every life in the eyes of God is His creation and unique. To assist in the ending of another's life should be considered murder. Murder has always been a spiritual issue not a political issue. The 6th commandment found in Exodus 20:13 says, "Thou shall not murder". I arrive at my decisions as to how I will vote on issues as follows: First and foremost, most importantly, what does God's holy and precious word, the Bible say about the issue. Secondly, what does the Constitution say which was inspired by the first.
10. Should a health care practitioner, who is present at the time a child is born alive after a failed abortion attempt, be required by state law to exercise the same degree of skill, care, and diligence to preserve the life and health of that child as would be expected for any other child born alive at the same gestational age? Y* Yes, medical professionals, doctors, take the Hippocratic Oath to "do no harm" and every effort should be made to save the newborn's life. As a former Medic in Mecklenburg County, it would be unheard of in the prehospital emergency medical profession to not render life saving measures to treat the newborn patient experiencing a traumatic medical emergency. The same standard should be applied to those who work in the abortion mills.
11. Should North Carolina public schools be required to allow students to voluntarily participate in “released time” religious instruction during school hours—provided that it takes place off-campus, with parental consent, and at no cost to the public school unit? Y* The direction of public policy in our states and nation should be of one of promoting an environment for parents where Godly principles, instruction, practice, and correction by parents can thrive. We all benefit as a culture by supporting parents as they raise their children in a healthy environment spiritually, emotionally, and physically. American education for the last four centuries, even before the Founding, religion, morality, and knowledge formed the core elements of American education. We need to return to this and shape and support public policy as leaders to promote a return to these core elements of education. Yes all efforts in public education should edify and offer support to Christian faith based curriculum and activities.
12. Should N.C. law (G.S. §90-21.5) continue to allow minors to consent to the treatment of venereal disease or other reportable communicable diseases, pregnancy (not including abortion), abuse of controlled substances or alcohol, and emotional disturbance, without parental consent? N* Any governmental policy or law that does not allow the parent to be involved with the knowlege and consent of the parent should be a criminal act and that policy should recinded. Any effort to interfere with a parent's efforts to parent and raise their child in a healthy enviorment should be overturned and public policy should be one that edifies the parent and supports the parent to raise their child in a healthy environment spiritually, emotionally, and physcially.
13. Should churches and other qualified religious organizations continue to receive tax-exempt status? Y* Yes, churches should continue to receive tax-exempt status. The good that is carried out by the faith community is at no cost to the taxpayer and the benefit to our culture is priceless. America's Godly heritage and the benefits are irrefutable throughout our history as a nation. We are a nation whose foundation, laws and institutions were built upon the Christian faith, the principles found in the Bible, Old and New Testament, and the saving grace of Jesus Christ. The Founders original intent for our nation was freedom and liberty and to practice their faith. They also held belief that we could not be self-governed in a most effective manner apart from this faith. John Adams our second U.S. President, "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
14. Should a person’s religious beliefs influence the decisions they make while serving in public office? Y* As a state representative and lawmaker I arrive at my decisions as to how I will vote on issues as follows: First and foremost, most importantly, what does God's holy and precious word, the Bible say about the issue. Secondly, what does the Constitution say which was inspired by the first. After we have established these bedrock foundations, then we can discuss the myriad of personal opinions citizens may have. But first, what does the Bible say, and secondly what does the Constitution say as the anchor tethered by these mooring lines to hold us fast to responsible public policy making that affects our culture and our citizens and keeps us strong as an American nation under a constitutional republic.
15. Should the number of terms a state legislator may serve in the North Carolina General Assembly be limited? N* Many may be in favor of term limits however I oppose term limits based on my experience and observations while in office. It can take some time for a newly elected official to get up to speed and learn the nuances of how the public office works. The government now regretfully is an adminstrative state an many that are in government are seasoned with many years experience at manipulating legislative and public policy outcomes. While there are many well intentioned and hard working public servants in government, not all are. Thus we have terms such as "drain the swam" which is a true depiction as to what needs to occur over all levels of government. An elected official that remains true to their oath of office, the constitution, and serves their constiuents well and does not fall to corruption while in office should have multiple terms to effect change towards a more conservative governance to perpetuate our constitutional republic. If the elected official fails to adequately serve the public in their term, the public has an opportunity to vote that elected official out at election time.
